It was recently brought to my attention that a new 1999 German edition of
Twain's SLOVENLY PETER has been released in Germany and is available from
the German amazon.com site. ISBN 3-933497-41-8; the book is published by
Waltrop: Manuscriptum. The book contains Twain's English translation of
Heinrich Hoffman's verses into English and then (I think) back into German.
A couple of questions have arisen that I am submitting to the Forum:

1) Helmut Winter has provided a 4 paragraph epilogue written in German for
this 1999 edition of Twain's SLOVENLY PETER. Are there any Forum members
who would be willing to translate the short epilogue into English? If so,
please email me privately and I will email you a scan of the German text.

2) Assuming Harper's still owns the copyright to Twain's translation, any
theories as to why SLOVENLY PETER has not been re-released for U.S.
distribution?

Thanks,
Barb
