In an article titled "Mark Twain's Friendship with Emeline Beach" which
appeared inA_Am. Literature_, Nov. 1947, p. 225, info is given on the
friendship that developed between Clemens & Beach on the Quaker City voyage.
The article states Emeline later married Abbott Handerson Thayer.
Was Emeline the mother of Gerald Thayer who was romantically linked
with Jean Clemens in Hamlin Hill's _Mark Twain: God's Fool_?
