ARCHEION News

ARCHEION continues to grow as a result of the tremendous support shown by
the archives community in Ontario. The network now has more than 3190
searchable archival descriptions online.  Many thanks go to the 37
repositories throughout Ontario actively taking part.  As of June 24 2002,
all descriptions that were submitted to ARCHEION by May 30 2002, have been
successfully uploaded to CAIN, CANADA'S ARCHIVAL INFORMATION NETWORK.

What do WWI love letters, an Upper Canadian button factory, a 19th Century
women's literary club, a French language theatre company, L'Association
canadienne-française de l'Ontario, and the Canadian National Exhibition' all
have in common? All will be featured in the soon-to-be-unveiled ARCHEION
Virtual Exhibit. Through textual and graphical representations of the
archival record, the Virtual Exhibit will take the visitor on a journey...
learn from a soldier writing home during the First World War, visit a
factory floor of the late 1800s, a literary club of Victorian Ontario, the
theatre stage of a vibrant French speaking northern Ontario, a courtroom
hearing on French language education, or a pageant at the CNE fairgrounds.
The ARCHEION Virtual Exhibit promises to explain and entertain through
showcasing the archival record.  Stay tuned for more to come...

Actualités d'ARCHEION

ARCHEION le Réseau d'information archivistique de l'Ontario, continue de
prendre de l'expansion, par soubre-saults, grace au formidable support reçu
de la commaunauté archivistique de la province. ARCHEION a maintenant plus
de 3190 descriptions archivistiques interrogeables en ligne. Le crédit
revient principalement aux quelques 37 centres d'archives de l'Ontario qui
participent activement dans le réseau ARCHEION.  En plus, environs 3100
descriptions d'ARCHEION sont maintenant accessibles sur RCIA, le RÉSEAU
CANADIEN D'INFORMATION ARCHIVISTIQUE.

Qu'est-ce que des lettres d'amour de la Première guerre mondiale, une
fabrique de boutons, un club littéraire féminin du XIXe siècle, une
compagnie de théâtre Franco-Ontarienne, une court de justice du XXe siècle
et la Canadian National Exhibition ont en commun? Ils seront tous mis en
évidence dans l'exposition virtuelle qu' ARCHEION dévoilera prochainement.
Montrant des documents textuels et iconographiques, ARCHEION en images
amènera le visiteur dans un voyage à travers le temps et l'espace. Visitez
les tranchées de la Première guerre mondiale, les planchers d'une fabrique
de la fin des années 1800, un salon littéraire de l'Ontario victorien, les
planches brûlantes d'un théâtre francophone du Nord de l'Ontario, une court
de justice où l'on plaide le droit à l'éducation en français en Ontario,
ainsi que les champs de foire d'un CNE du passé. ARCHEION en images
expliquera, tout en vous divertissant, non selement ce que le passé "a été",
mais aussi ce "qu'est" la vie des documents d'archives...  à  venir bientôt!
