Clerk's Corporate Records & Archives One Vacancy
Major Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manager, Archival Services, the Consultant, Media
Conversions is responsible for coordinating, evaluating, and
implementing media conversion initiatives and applications for the
Corporate Records & Archives unit, other departments, and special
purpose bodies.
Identifies, evaluates, and recommends implementation of alternative
technologies for the short and/or long-term storage of recorded
information as required by civic departments
Coordinates and monitors the implementation of digital
technologies. Develops strategies for planning long-term conversion
projects
Develops, recommends and maintains policies and procedures for
managing media conversion projects and services in support of
departmental functions and corporate governance objectives
Provides direction and technical expertise for media conversion
applications
Undertakes research and advises on long-term preservation of media
conversion applications for archival records
Identifies and establishes requirements and standards for
micrographics contracts and services
Identifies and establishes requirements and standards for imaging
contracts and services
Establishes requirements and standards for data entry and other
electronic conversion contracts and services
Ensures that media conversion technologies are implemented in
accordance with corporate standards
Provides advice and assistance on the implementation of media
conversion projects to staff in the Corporate Records & Archives unit,
and to staff in other departments and special purpose bodies
Writes reports recommending the planning, scheduling, and
implementation of media conversion applications
Establishes performance measures and quality control procedures to
gauge the effectiveness of media conversion projects
Monitors the work of external consultants and service bureaus, and
provides evaluation of the work of professional and technical staff
undertaking media conversion projects
Liaises with departmental information technology staff, Corporate
Records Managers, and Senior Consultants, Information Applications, to
ensure that media conversion applications meet client needs as well as
the requirements of corporate retention schedules
Supervises staff involved in conversion projects
Key Qualifications:
1. Thorough knowledge of and experience in micrographic equipment,
standards, operations, and services.
2. Thorough knowledge of and experience in scanning applications and
technologies, WEB based distribution and retrieval technologies.
3. Experience in negotiating and managing contracts and budgets. 4.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work simultaneously
on a number of projects.
5. Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff in
departments, special purpose bodies, and outside agencies.
6. Ability to initiate change and to motivate others. 7. Demonstrated
ability to manage and motivate staff.
8. Superior analytical, interpersonal, problem-solving and conflict
resolution skills.
9. Experience in project management in imaging technologies.
10.Demonstrated ability to supervise staff.
