A recent interesting counterpart to issues surrounding _Adventure of
Huckleberry Finn_ is the burning of Lawrence Hill's 2007 novel, _The
Book of Negroes_, by a group in The Netherlands who have taken offence
to the book's title.

The Canadian author's novel was titled after a 1783 British ledger of
that name, listing some 3,000 Black Loyalists who had fought for the
British during the American revolution, after which they were sent to
Canada.

Hill's novel was published in the US under a different title, _Someone
Knows My Name_.

The author published a response to the book-burning in the Toronto
Star on 20 June 2011, which is available at:

(Incidentally, the author is the brother of Dan Hill, whom you surely
will remember as the performer of the 1977 song, "Sometimes When We
Touch" ["...the honesty's too much..."].)

Hope you have a great week,
Taylor Roberts
