Dear Forum Members,

Many of you have contacted us about the program schedule for Elmira
2001: The Fourth International Conference on the State of Mark Twain
Studies, August 16, 17, 18, 2001. I am pleased to report that I can now
give you a few details to help you formulate travel plans.

  1. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. on August 16, 2001. For those of
you who have pre-registered, please report to the Gannett Tripp Library
upon arrival to pick up dorm room keys and conference materials. At that
time you may also visit the Mark Twain Archive, enjoy refreshments and
greet friends. At 9:00 a.m. you may visit the Mark Twain Study and the
Mark Twain Exhibit in Hamilton Hall.
  2. The first panel is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on August 16, 2001.
  3. The three-day program is packed with academic panels and
discussion groups. Other events include The Nick Karanovich Collection
of Mark Twain Movie Posters on exhibit at the Arnot Art Museum and
George Waters Gallery at Elmira College, a preview of excerpts from the
Ken Burns film, Mark Twain, a Finger Lakes Wine Tasting, and that's just
the short list.
  4. The final event of the conference is a very special, unlike
anything before, not to be missed, At Home party at Quarry Farm on the
evening of August 18, 200l. The dress for this party is casual, or
costume.

If you wish to reserve a dorm room for the night of August 15,
2001, the cost is an additional $18.00. For other details, costs, and a
registration form, visit our web site at
