I've heard that when Samuel Clemens visited his mother in Keokuk, Iowa,
children would throw rocks at his bedroom window so he would come out. He
would then walk them around the block and tell them stories. This story was
told to me by a descendent of a family that lived across the street from
Jane Clemens.
