ARCHIVAL RECORDS SPECIALIST - JOB DESCRIPTION


Position: Archival Records Specialist

Department: National Office, Toronto, Ontario

Reporting To: Corporate Secretary

Position Type: Part-time (1 year contract) 2-3 days per week > 21 hours/week

Salary Range: $38,000 - $42,000 pro-rated

Canadian National Institute for the Blind

The Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) is a non-profit organization providing rehabilitation services for blind, visually impaired and deafblind persons across Canada.

Archival Records Specialist
Located within our National Office and reporting to the Corporate Secretary, you will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day administration and operation of the CNIB’s record management system.  The Archival Records Specialist will be primarily responsible for the coordination and development of records retention schedules and processes with applicable business units.  The Archival Records Specialist will also be responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of an electronic records database.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate must have:

- university degree and/or certification in one or more of the following areas: records management, archival studies, library or information science;

- a practical working knowledge of all aspects or records management and archives program development and delivery;

- a minimum of 3 years direct records management or archives experience;

- proven project management skills;

- demonstrated oral and written communication skills;

- proficiency in the use of personal computers and the application of information technology, including document management of records and archives.

Preference will be given to those with knowledge and expertise in managing electronic records and able to speak French.
