* These two seminars are coordinated by the research group of the  
grant-in-aid for Scientific Research (C) entitled 'the poor laws controversy  
in the first half of nineteenth century Britain and the pauper reform  
project of Jeremy Bentham' funded by Japan Society for the Promotion of  
Science (grant number 13893001: head: Professor Katsuyoshi, Waseda  
University). Both the seminars are also arranged with the committee of  
planning and international communication of the JAPANESE SOCIETY for the  
HISTORY of ECONOMIC THOUGHT (Head of the committee: Professor Masaharu  
Hattori, Rikkyo University).
