Larry - It is actually in the sixth edition, and the author is Stanley Brue, not Bruce
(probably a typo in your message).  In the Acknowledgements, it recognizes the role and
contribution of Oser, noting that he was not alive to participate in the last three
editions, but that the book still "retains the features, style, and, in many places, the
actual words of the earlier editions." So, your questions are certainly relevant and of
interest, in my view.
