On July 28, 2004, a group of people from the archives and heritage
communities met with Ontario government representatives to discuss the
content of a draft Regulation under the new Personal Health Information
Protection Act (2004). The document attached outlines various options that
were discussed for implementing the legislation within archival/historical
organizations. I would encourage those who attended the consultation to
review this document for accuracy and further comment, and everyone else for
consideration and input.

The Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) will take this
feedback under consideration in preparing the Regulation. The consultation
period closes on September 3, 2004.

The MOHLTC has asked the Archives of Ontario to serve as the liaison with
this group of stakeholders, and thus I would request that feedback be
provided to me by e-mail by August 31, 2004, or as soon thereafter as
possible.

If you cannot open the attached document, please contact me directly.
