ARCH 203: Arrangement and Description II: Inventories and Finding Aids
Arrangement and description are key archival functions that enable researchers (as well as archives staff) to find and use our records. This course will cover the fundamentals of arrangement and description, with emphasis on the practical aspects of organizing archival collections and creating finding aids. Through a combination of discussion and hands-on exercises, participants will learn about the principles of arrangement, procedures for processing new acquisitions, multi-level description, creating RAD-compliant inventories, other types of finding aids, and submitting descriptions to ARCHEION. Prerequisite: ARCH 101 or equivalent basic knowledge.
