RECORDS ARCHIVIST (3 positions)

The new University of Western Ontario Archives has a mandate to provide
records management services to all units within the University, to
acquire, preserve and make available records and other materials that
document the history of the University or that are donated to the
University to support research, and to assist in administering Western's
Guidelines on Access to Information and Protection of Privacy.  To
assist in establishing this comprehensive program, the University is
seeking applications from qualified individuals to fill three (3)
positions at the Records Archivist level.

Reporting to the University Archivist, the Records Archivist is a member
of a team responsible for performing the full range of records
management and archives functions to assist staff in over 150 academic
and administrative units to manage their records effectively and
efficiently and to identify, preserve and make available University
records and related materials of archival value.

The incumbent is responsible for conducting inventories, developing
classification systems and  retention and disposal schedules; acquiring,
arranging and describing records and personal papers of archival value;
providing records management advisory and archival reference services;
ensuring compliance with access and privacy guidelines; evaluating
alternative media storage and related technologies; and participating in
marketing and outreach activities.

This position requires a Master's degree in Archival Studies, or a
Master's degree in Library, Information Science or History with
specialization in archives/records management, plus three (3) years
relevant archives/records management experience.  Experience working in
a university setting and/or with corporate records and archives is
preferred.

The successful applicant must have experience applying the Rules for
Archival Description, excellent interpersonal and customer service
skills, effective written and oral communication skills, and strong
planning, organizational, project management and problem solving
skills.  Expertise in electronic records management, team leadership,
and web page design are assets.
