Re: the "Keynes" joke: 
 
Now I think I know why a colleague in the philosophy department had such a 
good laugh when he overheard a conversation between me and a member of my 
university's chemistry department faculty. 
 
That faculty member--let's call him "Jack," and endow him with a refreshing 
honesty--had said, "Bostaph, you seem to be a pretty bright guy; why didn't 
you go into chemistry, or one of the other physical sciences, where you 
could really use your brains to do something?" 
 
I replied, "It's simple Jack; the physical sciences are just too easy." 
Jack growled and turned away while philosopher "Bob" broke out in laughter. 
I now think I may have misunderstood that laugh.
