In reply to John Henry's remark about tracking the early history of development economics:
 
Actually, this has been done, in Joseph's Remenyi's 1976 Duke Ph.D. dissertation "Core-
demi-core interactions in Economics" which developed (rationally reconstructed) that
history of development economics as a (modified) Lakatosian case study. His paper based on
this appeared in HOPE in 1979, Vol 11.1:30-63.
