Regarding the Economic Review etc. I suggest that you look at A. Kadish,
"The Oxford Economists in the Late Nineteenth Century" and "Historians,
Economists, and Economic History"; Peter d'A. Jones, "The Christian
Socialist Revival, 1877 - 1914", W. Young and F. S. Lee, "Oxford Economics
and Oxford Economists". The Economic Review was founded by the Oxford
Branch of the Christian Social Union and the Branch included A. J. Caryle,
Sidney Ball, L. R. Phelps, W. A. Spooner, and others. Thus you need to look
at material in the Oxford U. archives not to mention the writings of
Ball--I also have other material on Ball. The context of all of this is
found in the books mentioned above.
