The Records and Information Management Program at Mohawk College is pleased
to announce the following courses, available Winter 2004 via distance
education.
RM 100 - Records and Information Management Fundamentals
Course description: This 39-hour on-line course introduces the records
lifecycle and establishes a solid basis in records management concepts and
techniques. Records inventorying, retention and destruction scheduling,
inactive and vital records management and the application of records
management practices to electronic records are emphasized. Enrollment is
limited. This course is required for the Records and Information Management
Certificate.
Prerequisite: None
Fee: $265.60 (this fee includes the course manual)
Start Date: January 12, 2004
RM 102 - Micrographics and Image Management
Course description: This 39-hour on-line course provides an introduction to
micrographics and imaging technology. It explores how these technologies can
be applied to records management, storage, retrieval and distribution. Some
topics: microfilm, microfiche, Computer Aided Retrieval, Computer Output
Microfilm, various types of images, secure storage media, life expectancy of
electronic storage media and Optical Character Recognition. Enrollment is
limited. This course is required for the Records and Information Management
Certificate.

Fee: $265.60 (this fee includes the course manual)
Start Date: January 12, 2004
These courses are part of a 6-course certificate in Records and Information
Management offered by Mohawk College in a distance education format.
