The following is being posted on behalf of the Health Archivists Interest
Group...
The Health Archivist Interest Group will hold its Annual General Meeting on
Wednesday June 7, from 1:30-4:30 in Peterborough. From 1:30 to 3:30, HAIG
will host a session that addresses a variety of issues around the role of
medical archives in the production of media programs. To stimulate
discussion, we will be screening clips from several programs (e.g. a major
movie production, a video documentary, made for television specials) all of
which resorted to the archival record in their creation. Dr. Cyril
Greenland, Professor Emeritus from McMaster University will elaborate on the
selected clips by speaking about his experiences as an expert historical
consultant for many of these projects. We hope that a lively and broad
based discussion will follow and that participants will bring their own
experiences to the exchange. Everyone is welcome (including non-HAIG
members).
The HAIG business meeting will occupy the last hour of the meeting
(3:30-4:30). Hope to see you there.
