OLA members for several years have asked that the
association sponsor programs outside of the Toronto area for
members who could not attend the conference. To the end the
Elizabeth Ann Lecture is being held in London, Thunder Bay,
Ottawa and Toronto this year. Tickets are $10.00. Please come out
and support your professional association. For the London event
tickets will be available at the door or if you are traveling a distance
email me and I will make sure you have a ticket.
Hope to see everyone there.

EVAN SOLOMON, co-founder and executive director
of Shift magazine, is
the brilliant host, analyst and social
commentator of the award-winning
CBC NewsWorld programs, Fast Forward and Hot
Type. His fresh
viewpoint, intellectual acumen and dazzling
breadth of knowledge
captivate the incredible range of people he has
met and interviewed. His
essays for the Magazine and other CBC programs
are never less than
thought-provoking and rewarding. He is as
effective interviewing Harry
Potter's creator, J.K. Rowlings, and of the
children who read her books as
he is with the giants of criticism and
literature, such as Susan Sontag.
Having worked as a journalist in Hong Kong for
the South China Morning
Post and reported throughout Asia and Europe,
Evan has a legitimate
range of experience and a global perspective that
further enhances his
incisive insights into the social, technological
and cultural world we
inhabit. This is the mind that conceived Shift
magazine and he has only
begun.
