Another professional development opportunity from the Ontario Association
of Art Galleries.

FACILITIES DEVELOPMENT:
SUCCESSFUL PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Monday, March 18, 2002
MacLaren Art Centre, Barrie
9:00 am to 5:00 pm

This session will be of great interest to those who are planning a capital
project or upgrade of facilities and those who have already started the
process. Dave Barr, an associate of the Centre for Cultural Management at
the University of Waterloo, will outline the "on time and on budget"
project management approach for facilities development, while Siegfried
Rempel of the Canadian Conservation Institute will address the particular
planning concerns for collections storage. Case studies from the MacLaren
Art Centre, Art Gallery of Windsor, the Burlington Art Centre and the Agnes
Etherington Art Centre will highlight particular challenges of various
capital projects. Some issues include incorporating an historic building
into a new facility, the brand new stand-alone facility, revamping the
design of your building after funding cuts, the university campus gallery.

In conjunction with this workshop we recommend an on-line training tool
offered by the Cultural Management Institute - University of Waterloo
entitled, Completing Successful Projects in Creative Organizations.

The session will be of particular interest to directors, administrators,
managers and trustees within the art gallery and museum sector.
Bring a member of the board or building committee to this critical session.
