City of Ottawa Archives part-time temporary positions
Collection Specialist II (Archives)
4 positions, each 13 weeks, 3 days per week
$11.92 to $14.05

The Collections Specialist assists a staff archivist or technician, with the
intellectual (informational) and physical management of archival documents
and reference materials.  Duties will include: implementing preventative
conservation methods and practices, preparing file and box lists, and
generating media-specific finding aids (including entering records into a
database and photographic scanning). They will also be involved in
collection management projects.

Qualifications - completed University or college history, art history, fine
arts, social sciences or museum (archival) studies programme or equivalent
experience.

Experience - experience in a museum / gallery / archival environment and /
or experience implementing preventative conservation standards.

Knowledge:
·       Archives practices and procedures
·       Knowledge of City of Ottawa standard computer software and archival
databases
·       Working knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety
legislation
·       General Knowledge of corporate/departmental policies and procedures
related to health and safety

Competencies / skills and abilities:
·       Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication
·       Strong organizational and multitasking skills
·       Strong computer literacy
·       Ability to achieve goals with directions
·       Dexterity for handling objects
·       Ability to problem solve
·       Attention to detail
·       Ability to lift 23 Kg (50 Lbs.)

In accordance with standard City of Ottawa hiring practices, a criminal
records check will also be required.
