The Archives of Ontario is proud to unveil its newest online exhibit!  The Magnificent, the Mundane and the Merry:  Eaton's Store Windows features photographs of the display windows of Eaton's stores across Canada and throughout the 20th century.  Through the support of the Canadian Council of Archives' Archival Community Digitization Program (ACDP), over 1000 items have been digitized to reflect the history of retail merchandising in Canada, and the evolving cultural landscape of Canada itself.

The exhibit is also featured in CONTACT, Toronto's Photography Festival.  Our involvement in this prestigious cultural exhibition helps to bring this fascinating collection to a broader audience.

Les Archives publiques de l'Ontario sont fières de dévoiler leur nouvelle exhibition en ligne! Le fantastique, le familier et le festif : les vitrines des magasins Eaton comprend des photographies des vitrines publicitaires des magasins Eaton à travers le Canada, tout au long du 20e siècle.  Avec l'appui du Programme de numérisation de la communauté archivistique (PNCA) du Conseil canadien des archives, on a numérisé plus de 1 000 articles pour faire écho à l'histoire de la vente de détail au Canada, et l'évolution culturelle continue du Canada lui-même.

L'exhibition est également mise en vedette dans CONTACT, le festival de photographie de Toronto.  Notre participation à cette prestigieuse exhibition culturelle nous permet de présenter cette collection fascinante à un public plus large et divers.
