Hi Ken,
You never know when you put something out there, who's going to bite...How
are you and how is 'Sandy Hill' (I have a cousin whose name is Sandy Hill)?
I have passed your inquiry on to Sheila Achilles here in Saskatoon. Sheila
works for the District Health and her role is to develop Alternative Care
practices for guidance for the District. They have produced a resource book
on Alternative therapies, which she may be able to send you.
Hope this helps.
Georgia

Subject: Project in alternative/complementary health care

Hello,
The Sandy Hill Community Health Centre is interested in working with a
student doing a practicum (potentially either this spring/summer or fall),
preferably in Health Promotion, to do a project to help us in developing the
strategy this CHC is going to take with respect to complementary/alternative
health care. This is an interesting project - many issues involved: Which
therapies should we work with? Issues of professional standards and
liability? How to integrate this work with the primary health care and
other programs we now deliver?

My requests are the following:
1) I would be interested in hearing about any relevant research studies or
experiences of other organizations in this area;

2) I would like to know who to contact in the Health Promotion programs to
advise them of this placement opportunity, and to find out how their
placements work;

3) I'd be interested in hearing from Health Promotion students who may be
looking to do a placement in the Ottawa area, and who might be interested in
this project.

Many thanks,
Ken Hoffman
