CALL FOR PAPERS
Once again this year the History of Economics Society has agreed to sponsor
Young Scholar Sessions at its 2003 annual conference to be held at Duke
University, July 4-7th. These sessions were designed to support and
highlight research in the History of Economics, broadly defined, by PhD
candidates and scholars who have obtained their PhD's within the last 2
years. This is the 4th year that we will sponsor such sessions, which have
been highly successful in past years. Young Scholars are offered free
registration for the Conference and are invited to attend the Conference
banquet as guests of the Society. In addition, Young Scholars are given a
membership in the Society and a free subscription to the Society's journal,
JHET, for a year. This year, scholars who are based outside the United
States are also urged to apply for grants of up to $500 to support research
at the Economists' Papers Project located at Duke University. These funds
will be made available by Duke University to defray the cost of
accommodation before or after the conference. For more information, see
http://www.eh.net/HE/HisEcSoc/carchive/HES2003/eppgrants.shtml.
Scholars who wish to be considered for these sessions are asked to send an
abstract of about 100 words to Sandra Peart, email: [log in to unmask] In
addition, candidates for these sessions are asked to provide information on
their academic affiliation, year of study/PhD was obtained, program of
study, and supervisor. The deadline for submissions is February 4th.
