Dear Institutional Members:

Institutional Members in good standing of the Archives Association of
Ontario (AAO), are eligible to apply for a grant under the terms of the
CAIN Cost Shared Cooperative Assistance Program. The grant is made
available through the Canadian Council of Archives (CCA), with the AAO
Institutional Development Committee administering the provincial
competition for the noted programs.

Attached are the 2003-2004 CAIN Application Form and Revised CAIN
Guidelines. The application form and guidelines will be made available
through the AAO website and the CCA website in the next few days.
Application packages can also be requested through the AAO Office. All
applications are available in French on request.

Please note the following AAO supplementary point to the CAIN
Guidelines: all institutions applying for CAIN funding must have the
fonds-level description(s) for all documents associated with a virtual
exhibit available on ARCHEION.

Please remember that the CCA requires an expression of intent prior to
the formal grant application. E-mail the CCA office at
[log in to unmask] by 14 November, 2002 with: the name of the
exhibit, a brief explanation of what is planned (if not apparent from
the title), which theme the project falls under, the estimated number of
images expected, and the estimated cost.

The application deadline for national level theme projects is 13
December 2002. Applications for national level projects should be sent
directly to the CCA.

The application deadline for provincial level theme projects is
Thursday, 28 November 2002, 4:30 p.m. To enter the competition,
submit ten (10) copies of your completed application (the original,
completed in black ink or typed, and 9 photocopies). Grant applications
may be sent by mail, courier or hand delivered to:
