FOUR FIVE MONTH CONTRACTS WITH POSSIBLE EXTENSION
TITLE:  Archival Technicians (4 positions)
CLASSIFICATION: Library Technician 3 (atypical) (OPSEU - TEC)
SALARY RANGE:         $717.70 - $796.86 per week  SCHEDULE: 3,7

LOCATION:       77 Grenville Street, Toronto

The Archives of Ontario requires four archival technicians to work in a team
environment on special projects.  These archival technicians will assist in
preparing the archival collections of the second largest archives in Canada
for eventual transfer to new facilities.  Projects include working with
architectural, photographic, sound and moving images, and textual records.
These are 5 month special project contract positions, with a possibility the
contracts will be extended.


QUALIFICATIONS:  We are looking for individuals who possess a basic
knowledge of archival principles/practices, including Rules for Archival
Description.  They must also have a basic knowledge of legislation and
practices governing access to records (FOI, Copyright), a demonstrated
ability using software and database management systems, and a basic
knowledge of preservation practices for records.  The positions require
individuals who can do their work with accuracy, attention to detail, and
have an ability to work with minimal supervision.
