====================== HES POSTING ===================

        I have come across incidents in the 1930s in which faculty
members were not hired or not promoted because they would not adhere
to Gold Standard doctrine. And there is the McCarthy Era in the United
States. Of course there are those who would say that it was not economics
that was repressed in the 1950s, but how you define a science is just a
subtle way of repression.
