----------------- HES POSTING -----------------

I am happy to announce that the July issue of The American Journal of
Economics and Sociology is out. There highlights from this issue are

1. The Second Invited Session on the Foundations of Neoclassical Economics.
Professor J. C. W. Ahiakpor declares that Wicksell is somewhat overrated as
a
theorist especially when compared with the early classical school writers.
Ahiakpor's indictment is examined by the following economists in separate
comments. The commentators are: T. M. Humphrey, J. Aschheim and G. S.
Tavlas, R. M. Ebeling, and M. J. Gootzeit.

2. This July's Remembrance and Appreciation Roundtable deals with the
interesting and enigmatic Martin Bronfenbrenner (1914 -- 1997). In
addition
to his famous counsin Urie Bronfenbrenner (developmental psychology) and
his
daughter, B. Fitzgerald, C. D. Goodwin, S. Hollander, T. Matsuura, W.J.
Samuels, W. Sichel, and E. R. Weintraub join forces for an insightful
essay
in biography of a wonderful economist. A frontispiece portrait of M. B.
(never before seen) is published as well.

3. R. Neill's piece on "Francis Bacon, John Rae, and the Economics of
Competitiveness" and P. Boettke's "The Russian Crisis" are also included in
this issue along with book notes, comments and other articles.

The editor, Laurence S. Moss, cordially invites all to take a look and
participate in the issues and debates planned for the future. The
journal's
website is found as follows: go to www.babson.edu and wait for the book
of
knowledge to open. Then scroll down to the American Journal of Economics
and
Sociology click point.
