Thank you very much. Another off-list response referred to the British government consol
as the securities  from which the Darcys of the time could derive fixed incomes in
perpetuity. An interesting phenomenon of that period was how clear-eyed, unsentimental and
crass people, particularly the upper classes, were about money.
