This year's topic: Promoting Health Through Community Design

Where: University of Alberta, Edmonton
This first annual Physical Activity Forum brings together experts from the
fields of physical activity, health promotion and urban design to discuss
how to create urban environments that support health and physical activity.
Guest Speaker: Lawrence Frank PhD
Dr. Frank is an internationally known expert in sustainable transportation
who is the Bombardier Chairholder at the University of British Columbia. He
is the author of two books, Health and Community Design: The Impacts of the
Built Environment on Physical Activity, and Urban Sprawl and Public Health.
His 2004 study "Obesity Relationships with Community Design, Physical
Activity, and Time Spent in Cars" was featured in Time magazine, and on CNN
and ABC news.
