----------------- HES POSTING -----------------
How about some dis-anniversaries:

1954 - Horace Davis, a Marxist and an economist, fired by the University of
Kansas City (now UMKC) for his political beliefs (and he had tenure)

1954 - Gardner Ackley says he would use letter of recommendation to warn
universities not to hire Edward Shaffer and Myron E. Sharpe largely because
they defied HUAC

There are lots of good and not-so-good anniversaries to note--it just seems
that economists have a collective amnesia about the bad ones--those who
ignore/forget the dark past are doomed to repeat it after a fashion.
