====================== HES POSTING =====================
Folks,
As you may recall (quoting the HES'98 Conference announcement here):
Because of the city's numerous cultural and sporting
events, such as the Grand Prix and the Jazz Festival, visitor
accommodation in Montreal in June is at an absolute premium.
See our HES'98 Conference index
http://www.eh.net/HisEcSoc/Conferences/98.shtml
for links to the June Festival Calendar and much more.
Here is a table representing evenings and nights around the conference.
"hotel lodging" marks the three nights of the arrangement between hotel
and conference, which were covered on the accommodations form for both
hotel and university residences. More nights are still available at the
university residences.
[NOTE: Table will display properly if your email viewer is set to use a
proportional font, such as Courier.--RBE]

FIREWORKS:
---------
The Benson & Hedges International - Montreal fireworks competition is
quite impressive; the fireworks are a regular feature of the Montreal
summer scene. Spain will compete on Wednesday the 17th, Austria on
Saturday the 20th.
Highlife opportunity: dinner on Saturday night at the Restaurant Club
Lounge 737 tel:(514)397 0737 for a panoramic view of Montreal and the
Austrian fireworks. Reservation presumed necessary. [--Valerie]
Lowlife opportunity: stand anywhere on the ground and look up!
BASEBALL:
--------
The Montreal Expos are one of thirty "major league" teams, the top of
North American professional baseball. Montreal is playing at home and
at night for most of the time around HES'98, host to "America's Team"
(Atlanta) and then engaged in a two-city series with "Canada's Team"
(Toronto).
The team does not sell out its stadium, even for the most popular games,
so some walk-up tickets will be available. [--Paul]
LODGING:
-------
Lodging in University Residences is available for the Conference nights
and also for the preceding and following nights (perhaps more than one).
