----------------- HES POSTING -----------------
Robert Heilbroner (ed.), TEACHINGS FROM THE WORLDLY PHILOSOPHY, Norton.
I agree with David Colander that they are extremely difficult to do. In my
advanced HOT seminar I have used Heilbroner's THE ESSENTIAL ADAM SMITH and
Keynes's GENERAL THEORY, because they are both very affordable and well
worth owning for econ majors. Then I supplement with lots of articles, book
chapters. I have used them also in a regular HOT undergrad survey course,
along with Ricardo's Principles (the cheapee version, which obviously is
not the best, i.e. Sraffa's) and I don't remember what else, but also tons
of articles and book chapters.
There are some old readers that I thought were good, e.g. Kapp's (or Kapp
and Kapp).
Other than those mentioned and those by listmembers ;), I think that Hunt's
HOT text is very good, and I still think Eric Roll's is quite worthwhile.
Ingrid Rima's is also well worth a peek. It depends somewhat on what you
want to emphasize, etc.
