Now that Forstater has introduced Scazzieri, let me recommend the latter's   
work on the questions Bateman raised, particularly A Theory of Production:   
Tasks, Processes, and Technical Practices (Oxford 1993); and before that,   
Nicholas Georgescu-Roegen, The Entropy Law and the Economic Process   
(Cambridge 1971), and before that Koopmans, Leontief, and Sraffa.
