Dear All,
In reply to John Womack's question about the particularities of prejudice
in the discipline of economics, perhaps what is peculiar is that prejudice
in the eyes of the economist has received less attention than it has in
history, where prejudice in the historian's eye is such a major point of
discussion.

One paper which seemed to get at this was done by Gail Triner at Rutgers.
She is in history, but often crosses over into economics, in her work on the
early stock market and banking in Brazil. But this one paper she wrote
discussed how a sector of Brazilian society viewed economic development of
Brazil as making Brazil white. Hence, economic development policy was
intertwined with policies to promote the immigration of whites.

Perhaps her paper might be solicited for that volume.
