I don't have a solution to your first question, Barkley. Joan Robinson, clearly no woman
with a "small mind" in Emerson's sense of the term, writes in "Economics: An Awkward
Corner" (p.6):
 
The notions of laisser faire, that business men know what is best..."  
 
But then in "Economic Heresies" (p.33), she write: "Under laissez-faire capitalism, ..." 
 
 
Your second query may have a solution, however. The culprit is none other than Microsoft
Word's insistence on chancing the lc (internet)to UC (Internet) via its spellcheck device.
