AAO Institutional members,

The CCA has announced major changes to CAIN funding for 2003-2004. The
focus of the program for the 2003-2004 funding year will be on
increasing digital content, rather than the submission of descriptions
to CAIN.

The CCA is asking institutions to submit applications to produce
virtual exhibits for The Canadian History Timeline, that would reside on
CAIN. The exhibits should fit under one of the following four national
level project themes:

A Sense of Place - exhibits reflecting physical geography, man-made
structures, and communities

Society and Economics - exhibits reflecting social changes, beliefs,
issues surrounding labour, industry, and natural resources

People, Government and Democracy - exhibits reflecting political
issues, elections and politicians; justice and human rights

Specific events linked to dates on the timeline

The CCA is also seeking applications for provincial level projects
based on the following four thematic areas:

Ethnicity and Culture
Genealogy and the Family
Immigration and Settlement
Protest in Canada

The CCA requires an expression of intent prior to the formal grant
application. Please e-mail the CCA office at [log in to unmask] by 14
November, 2002 with: the name of the exhibit, a brief explanation of
what is planned (if not apparent from the title), which theme the
project falls under, the estimated number of images expected, and the
estimated cost. Please note that at least 60% of the project cost must
be towards digitization.

CAIN grant application packages should be made available by November
11th.

The application deadline for national level projects is 13 December
2002. Applications for national level projects should be sent directly
to the CCA.

The application deadline for provincial level projects is Thursday, 28
November 2002, 4:30 p.m. To enter the competition, submit ten (10)
copies of your completed application (the original, completed in black
ink or typed, and 9 photocopies). Grant applications may be sent by
mail, courier or hand delivered to:
