Agon Conference 
 
Agon:  A Conference on the Common Place, Tragic Fate, Contemporary Return 
and Democratic Future of the Classical is to be held at Ohio State 
University (Columbus, OH), April 10-13, 1997.  The conference will explore 
the contemporary ethico-political relevance of Greek and Roman classicism. 
Keynote speakers include Cornelius Castoriadis, S.N. Eisenstadt, Carlo 
Ginzburg, Agnes Heller, Oswyn Murray, Jean-Pierre Vernant, and Pierre 
Vidal-Naquet.  The conference is a joint project of OSU's Modern Greek
