I would like to add the (possible) influence of the Econometric Society
(established in December 1930) and the two article carried in
_Econometrica_ (started in 1933). In September 1933 the first regular
meeting was held at Lausanne, where two eminent mathematical economists,
Walras and Pareto, were first accepted and had secured their positions. J.
A. Schumpeter praised Walras and Marshall in his 'The common sense of
econometrics', the opening article for _Econometrica_ of 1933. J. R. Hicks
discussed Walras, comparing him with Marshall, in his article entitled
'Leon Walras' in _Econometrica_ of 1934.
