Hello, all! In light of the current discussion, let me take the opportunity
to remind everyone of _City of Dust: A Cement Company Town in the Land of
Tom Sawyer_, by Dr. Gregg Andrews (University of Missouri Press), which I
reviewed for the Forum in 1996.

Integral to the denouement of _City of Dust_ is the appropriation of Twain's
image in order to further political and corporate interests in the Hannibal
area. Andrews referred to this as the "commercial construction of Mark
Twain."

The review can be found in the TwainWeb archives at:

Regards,

Mary
