----------------- HES POSTING -----------------
Is it too simplistic to say that when looking at an "industry" one should
take the producer's viewpoint and that when taking the consumer's view one
should refer to a "market." Thus, for example, DuPont is in the chemical
industry but competes in several markets, e.g., food wrap, paint, synthetic
fiber, etc. When a consumer is shopping for food wrap he or she may choose
from the products of several different industries that compete in the food
wrap market to meet his or her need.
