hello Navessa - here are two references in response to your request for material about teaching and learning about the social determinants of health, hope you find them helpful:
Kahan, B. R. and M. S. Goodstadt (1999). "Understanding the Determinants of Health: Key Decision Makers in Saskatchewan Health Districts and Saskatchewan Health, 1998." Canadian Journal of Public Health Volume 90(Supplement 1): S47-S52.
This article includes "maps" of how different people understand the determinants based on individual interviews, and a "synthesis" map of how the group of respondents to a survey understood them. (as well as other information!)

Kahan, B., & Goodstadt, M. (July, 2004).IDM Best Practices Road Map for Coaches.
See Exercise 11: Relate concept of social determinants of health to practice. (page 22)
This is a pretty simple exercise designed, among other things, to help participants identify ways to increase matches between practice activities and determinants.
The Road Map can be found on www.idmbestpractices.ca (click on IDM Best Practices Resources on the menu on the side, or, if you check before November 1, see "New!" on the home page.)

best wishes,
Barbara
