Muddle of Middle starts with reference to RTS (& has a few others).
Plus: "[T]here can be no stable halfway house between a market economy and socialism" -
pure Mises logic of intervention
plus a host of similar stuff
I cannot fathom why Bruce would think all of that has nothing to do with the logic of RTS
Samuelson, etc read Hayek as providing a Mises-type 'inherent logic of interventionism'
type argument - they don't buy the mechanism (find it too opaque, fuzzy, unpersausive,
etc) - are they wrong?
I look forward to the early appearance of Bruce's edition which is long awaited.
This is likely my final post on RTS & Hayek's logic (opportunity cost & all that). As
Bruce said, folk would likely enjoy the EJPE symposium (& it is more nuanced than email
exchanges to boot!).
