Malcolm Rutherford is correct in his message concerning Friedman's  
candidacy at Wisconsin. 
 
Yes, some anti-semitism was involved; almost no anti-instituttionalism was  
involved, perhaps none.  The main problem was competition between the Econ  
Dept and the Business School for control of new work in statistics.   
Friedman got caught up in that political issue.
