The Editors of THE NEW ENGLAND QUARTERLY: A HISTORICAL REVIEW OF NEW
ENGLAND LIFE AND LETTERS invite submissions for their consideration.

THE NEW ENGLAND QUARTERLY, a pioneer in the field of American Studies, has
been published without interruption since 1928. The journal's mission
remains the same as that articulated by its founders: NEQ is an open forum
dedicated to the exploration and discussion of New England civilization and
its effects on the nation and the world. The editors expect essays to
approach their topics historically, but subjects can range broadly from
literature, to politics, to art, to economics, etc. There is no restriction
on time period covered.

Features also include brief memoranda, recently discovered documents,
reconsiderations of historic controversies, and periodic essay reviews. A
section of book reviews keeps readers informed about the lastest releases
in the fields of New England history, literature, and culture.

The editorial offices of THE NEW ENGLAND QUARTERLY are located at
Northeastern University. Manuscripts should be sent to the attention of
Co-Editor Linda Smith Rhoads at the address below. Inquiries by phone, fax,
or e-mail are also cordially received.
