A few days ago I ventured a response to a question regarding the
"Battle Hymn of the Republic" and MT's parody thereof. In my
off-the-cuff response -- but I had recently been looking at MT's
parody myself --  I referred not once but twice to the online
"encyclopedia" Wikipedia. In retrospect it occurs to me I should
have added a Caveat lector to both references.

Surely, however -- at least I hope so -- every participant in
the Forum knows that anything on the internet  should be
regarded with critical care, and not cited as documentation
except following verification from another (and reliable)
source.

It is best to always -- always -- verify documentation,
especially that as may appear on the WWW. And I did so with
regard to the two sources cited as referred to above. But recent
"news" regarding Wikipedia prompts me to add this "apology" to
my previous. See for example recent articles regarding Wikipedia
in the NYTimes, even today, to wit
