I am trying to put together a panel for the Poe Bicentennial Conference
to be held in Philadelphia Oct. 8-11, 2009. I've already asked for
proposals from the Poe list, but Twain people, in all fairness, should
have the same opportunity. The proposed panel is tentatively titled,
"Reading Poe on Salary: Edgar Poe and Mark Twain--affinities and
influences." Anyone interested in suggesting a paper (the usual 20
minute thing) can send a brief paragraph to me. Since proposals are due
in early August, any suggestions should reach me by the first of July.
Please reply directly to me at [log in to unmask] rather than to the
entire list.
