Here goes...
Twain was well-known for his salty language, and he considered creative and effective cursing a true art. Not only the words, but the inflection was important, and he once pointed this out to his wife Livy when she tried to shame him by repeating his curse words to him without the proper inflection. But one day when Twain was talking with a visitor to their home, he overheard Livy curse while she was knitting in another room. She must have had the inflection right that time because Twain remarked to his visitor that she would have to answer for her profanity on judgment day just as surely as he would. What was Livy's curse-word that provoked this remark?
If you find it too horrible to even think of repeating her blasphemy in front of the entire Forum you may send your answer privately.
