Dear Colleagues,

I am putting the finishing touches on a transcript of Talcott Parsons based
on a seminar that he gave at Brown University on March 10, 1973. Parsons
explained that he went to Amherst college as an undergraduate and the President of
that college was Alexander Meiklejohn (AM). Apparently, Amherst "dimissed
[him] from the presidency of Amherst." Has anyone any information about this
dimissal?

This is to be the January issue of the American Journal of Economics and
Sociology with commentary on the transcript and the issue also contains several
original articles about Parsons by Parsons scholars. It will also appear in
book form (a shameful plug) in the series I edit for Blackwell Publishers.

Thanks.
