Well to my great surprise, Ontario Minister of Health Promotion James
Watson spoke about tobacco, diet, exercise and fat last night at the
opening of the "Moving Upstream" conference. I was particularly impressed
by one of his ideas for improving the health of Ontarians: having Research
in Motion install pedometers on their Blackberry devices.

I am sure that the hundreds of thousands of Ontarians using food banks and
the thousands of families surviving on starvation social assistance benfits
will receive this suggestion with great enthusiasm. This will be of
particular value to the homeless on Toronto and other Ontario cities
streets as it will help them monitor their wanderings.

Luckily, we have Dr. Sheela Basrur, our esteemed provincial medical officer
of health, advising him and probably writing his speeches. We can thank her
for his excellent understanding of the importance of "Moving Upstream."
